General Information
The Building Department houses the Building Commissioner/Zoning Enforcement Officer, Electrical Inspector, Plumbing and Gas Inspector.
- Building Commissioner:
- Available by appointment for consultations Monday through Wednesday 8:30 to 10:00 am. Please call to schedule an appointment 508-349-7004 Ext. 131 or 137.
- Inspections generally occur Monday through Wednesday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
- Electrical Inspector: Is in the office at approximately 9:00 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Inspections take place after the office hour.
- Plumbing/Gas Inspector: Is in the office at approximately 12:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Inspections take place after the office hour.
- Local Building Inspector: On a as needed basis Tuesday and Thursday afternoons only.

- What are the shed requirements?

Building permits are required for sheds and they must abide by the setback regulations. Any shed 200 sq ft and under can be on blocks. Sheds larger than 200 sq ft must be on a foundation, such as a concrete slab or sonotubes.
- What are the requirements to build a deck?
-
A building permit must be submitted for a deck. 4 ft deep footings are required. When a deck is 30 inches off the ground, railings are required.
