General Information
The Town of Truro has vacancies on various multi-member bodies and citizens are encouraged to participate.

Beach Advisory Committee
In accordance with the Charter passed at ATE, April 22, 1992, Section 4-3-2, the Board of Selectmen shall appoint members. Meetings are held on Thursdays as needed at the Truro Public Library.

Bike & Walkways Committee
The Bike and Walkway Committee is charged with the following tasks: to prepare a Bike and Walkway master plan and update as necessary for future biking and walking routes throughout Truro; to work with the Cape Cod National Seashore and National Park Service when necessary to plan and coordinate bike and walking trails in Truro; and to appoint one representative to serve on the Recreation Commission.

Building Committee (Ad Hoc)
The Committee shall work with the Town Manager (as an ex-officio member of the Committee) or the DPW Director and engineering firm on all appropriate phases of the development and implementation of the construction project.

Cable & Internet Advisory Committee
The Cable and Internet Advisory Committee consists of four regular members, and one appointed as the Media Specialist from the school. The Truro Select Board shall be the appointing authority.

Cemetery Commission
The Cemetery Commission is an elected board that cares for and manages the public burial grounds in Truro.

Charter Review Committee
The Truro Town Voters at Annual Town Meeting 2014 and at the Election of May 2015 voted to establish a Charter Review Committee in accordance with the Truro Town Charter, Section 6-4-2.

Climate Action Committee
The Climate Action Committee's primary focus is to investigate, study, and make recommendations to the select board on the following; the carbon footprint of all town-owned facilities and equipment; methods for minimizing the town's carbon footprint; the town's vulnerabilities to the consequences of climate change; and methods for minimizing the town's vulnerabilities to the consequences of climate change.

Community Preservation Committee
The Community Preservation Committee shall manage and administer the implementation of the Massachusetts Community Preservation Act (CPA) in Truro in accordance with the most current iteration of the Truro Community Preservation Committee Bylaw.

Commission on Disabilities
The mission of the Commission on Disabilities is to increase community awareness about disability issues and to encourage accessibility for all.

Concert Committee
The mission of the Truro Concert Committee is to organize, publicize and sponsor a series of musical events during July and August on the lawn at Truro Public Library.

Conservation Commission
The Conservation Commission administers the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and Rivers Protection Act.

Council on Aging Board
This board strives to be a strong advocate for the senior community it serves through partnerships and collaborations with the Truro COA, the Friends of Truro COA and other COA Boards on the Outer Cape.

Cultural Council
In accordance with the Charter passed at ATE, April 22, 1992, Chapters 4-3-2 and 6-4-1, the Board of Selectmen shall be the appointing authority. Meetings as needed at PSF.

Energy Committee
In accordance with the Charter passed at ATE, April 22, 1992, Chapter 6-4-1, the Board of Selectmen shall be the appointing authority. The committee consists of five members and 3 alternates. Meetings are held as needed at Town Hall.

Finance Committee
In accordance with the Charter passed at ATE, April 22, 1992, 6-4-3, the Moderator appoints the Finance Committee. Meetings as needed at Town Hall/PSF.

Historical Commission
The Truro Historical Commission has been established under Massachusetts law "for the preservation, protection and development of the historical or archeological assets" of Truro.

Housing Authority
In keeping with the affordable housing goals of the Town Comprehensive Plan (2007), the Truro Housing Authority (THA) promotes decent, safe, affordable housing for rental or purchase to meet the needs of present and future Truro residents.

Human Services Committee
The Human Services Committee will provide review and oversight of the budget requests and contractual services provided by human services agencies seeking funding to provide assistance to the residents of the Town of Truro.

Library Trustees
The Truro Board of Library Trustees exists by virtue of the provisions of Chapter 78, Sections 10-13 and 21 of the Massachusetts General Laws, and the Town of Truro Charter. The trustees have overseen the town libraries since 1894 when voters established a the Truro Public Library.

Pamet Harbor Commission
In accordance with the Charter passed at ATE, April 22, 1992, Chapter 4, Section 3 and Paragraph 2, and Chapter 6, Section 4, Paragraph 1, the Board of Selectmen shall be the appointing authority.

Part-Time Resident Advisory Committee
In an effort to provide a public forum for part-time residents and property owners to make recommendations to the Select Board and other elected and appointed bodies, the Truro Select Board hereby establishes a Part Time Resident Advisory Committee in accordance with the Truro Town Charter.

Planning Board
The Planning Board is responsible for administration of the Subdivision Control Laws.

Select Board
In accordance with the Charter passed at ATE, April 22, 1992, Chapter 4-1-1, a (5) there shall be a five-member Select Board, elected position.

Shellfish Advisory Committee
This is a five-member committee appointed by the Board of Selectmen. Members serve three-year staggered terms.

Taxation Aid Committee
The Taxation Aid Committee shall adopt rules, regulations, and procedures to implement the appropriate Chapters (e.g., Chapter 60, Section 3D and Chapter 166) of the Massachusetts General Law (MGL) and Article 13 of the 1999 Annual Town Meeting (ATM) Warrant, as approved on April 13, 1999.

Town Seal Committee (Ad Hoc)
The Committee shall have five members and one alternate member appointed by the Select Board for a definite period of time, not to exceed two years. The Committee will be composed of at-large members where the Select Board will attempt to appoint a demographically diverse membership that best represents the broad and critical interests of the community.

Walsh Property Advisory Committee (Ad Hoc)
In accordance with the Truro Town Charter, Section 6-4-4, and Article 6 of the October 21, 2023 Special Town Meeting (held on May 4, 2024), the Select Board hereby establishes the Walsh Property Advisory Committee as an ad-hoc committee.

Zoning Board of Appeals
In accordance with the Charter passed at ATE, April 22, 1992, Section 4-3-2, the Board of Selectmen shall be the appointing authority.

Zoning Task Force (Ad Hoc)
The purpose of this task force is to propose ways to increase housing opportunities, housing production and economic development.
